I am an avid reader, animal lover, devourer of guacamole, storyteller and the author of An Unexpected Obsession, A Dose of Reality, Witch Way, A Coven by Christmas, Love Spells, Summer Solstice (coming soon), Flirting With Death, Flirting With Murder and the rest of the upcoming Assassins Anonymous series. I attended Arizona State University (go Sun Devils!) and make my home in the Valley of the Sun with my husband and three pampered pets. I like to discuss everything funny, sexy, sassy and absurd. But mostly I like to talk about books... and shoes... and outrageously expensive purses... and Chanel sunglasses ...oooh, and anything sparkly... or fluffy! So, come on in and let's chat!

Romeo, Romeo by Robin Kaye

Romeo, Romeo by Robin Kaye is a lighthearted romance that takes you into the lives of two people determined to never get married, yet can't seem to stay away from each other. Ms. Kaye does a wonderful job of drawing you into the story without making you wish she would just get on with it.

The characters are believable and fun and I can't recommend this book enough for those of you (like me) who love a good romance *spoiler alert* with a happy ending. I love how independent the heroine is and how humbled the hero is by his feelings for her.

The dog (Dave), is another wonderful character and adds a good bit of humor to the story as well... I'm always a sucker for sweet animals.

Bottom line--buy this book! it is currently free for both Kindle and Nook. Happy Reading!!!

What the Lady Wants by Jennifer Crusie for Kindle

Let me preface this review by admitting that Jennifer Crusie is one of my all-time favorite authors. What the Lady Wants is no exception, even though it is a much older work. It can be confusing when purchasing eBooks by established authors because the Kindle publishing date is not a true measure of when the book was released. At least in this case I hadn't already read the book!

The story is fun and moves quickly, with great romance and intrigue. It took me a while to realize there were no cell phones or other modern conveniences. I really enjoyed the hero and heroine alike, but found the "bet" a bit unbelievable **spoiler alert**... who would choose to live in squalor for a year for a $10,000 payout? But even this was a great sub-plot to the story since I love the Chick-Lit genre and most of the time the stories are a little far-fetched. But, that's why I like them--I live in reality, I don't necessarily want to read about it:).

I highly recommend this book (as I would anything and everything by Crusie). The price is a bit high for a fifteen year old novel, but so entertaining that it is worth the cost. Happy Reading!

Confessions of a Bombshell Bandit by Gemma Halliday

Confessions of a Bombshell Bandit by Gemma Halliday... Hmmm. I knew this was a short story when I downloaded it, but apparently "short story" means very, very short story in this case. I read the entire thing in about ten minutes. If I would have know the brief length upon purchase ($2.99) I would have taken a pass. $0.99 would have been a better price, although still a bit high--have I mentioned how very short it is?

As for the content, I really enjoyed where the plot was going, the characters were fun and the storyline entertaining. This would have been a great full-length book! There was so much more that could have been included and developed that I have to admit I felt a bit robbed when it ended.

The author has talent and I hope she'll either expand this into a real book or write another similar story. For now, my recommendation is to take a pass, not because the story is bad, because it is extremely brief.

Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H.P. Mallory (A Paranormal Romance)

I am currently reading Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H.P. Mallory. Not only is this a great read, it is currently on $0.99 for Kindle! I love the first person narration (makes me feel like I'm the character) and the story is fun.

I'm a bit past the half-way point and am finding it hard to put the story down and get any work done! I definitely recommend and will post more when I'm finished... so excited that this is a series!!!

Enjoy!

Impetuous by Lori Foster

Impetuous by Lori Foster is a great, quick read for fans of Chick-Lit. Currently $0.86 for Kindle, it's a bargain for a heartwarming, romantic story.

Find yourself immersed in the life of Carlie McDaniels, a school teacher who hides behind frumpy clothing and a prickly demeanor to avoid male attention. But a chance encounter during a costume party finds Carlie's defenses coming down and sparks a romantic journey that has you rooting for the hero to save her from herself.

Happy Reading!

Lonestar Sanctuary by Colleen Coble

Lonestar Sanctuary by Colleen Coble was a touching and romantic mystery. This makes back-to-back reads that I have really enjoyed--Yea!!! Surprising me the most was the fact that I was wrong about the villain in the end... I can usually guess "who-done-it" midway through the book, but not this time.

Great writing, characters, and storyline make this a must read and is currently free for Kindle...download now!!! I will definitely be reading future titles by this author and can't wait to begin the next in the series.

Enjoy! ...and I would love to know what you think!!!

Once Bitten by Claire Willis

Once Bitten by Claire Willis was a fantastic read! I really enjoyed the writing and found myself rooting for a relationship between the elusive Eric Taylor and the very human Angie McCaffrey. It was hard to put this book down and I wanted more after reading the final page.

On Kindle the price is only $3.03 currently, a definite bargain!!! I really enjoyed the mystery of this story as well as the moral conflict the main character faces. Whether you enjoy the vampire genre or not, if you like my previous recommendations, you WILL enjoy this book.

Happy Reading!

Stuck in the Middle by Viginia Smith

I finished reading Stuck in the Middle by Virginia Smith over the weekend. For the price, currently free, it is a must read for romance lover's. The book does have a noticeable religious influence that got tiresome after a bit, but once again, for a freebie it is a good read.

I enjoy a bit more, ahem, adult action in my romance novels, but if you're looking for a cleaner romantic reading experience this is a good choice. The characters were well-developed and enjoyable--my favorite being the three-generational interaction between grandmother, mother, and daughter.

You will feel a bit preached at, but it is easy to skip those passages and still enjoy the storyline. As of today (12/6/10) the book is still available free for Kindle users, so there is nothing to lose by trying it out.

Next up is:

I've read about half of this book so far and it is hard to put down! I'll write a full review as soon as I'm done, but so far, it is a five-star read! Much more my speed. (And here I thought I was over the vampire craze! Apparently, not!)
